Potential unreliability of ALK variant allele frequency in the efficacy prediction of targeted therapy in NSCLC

Frontiers of Medicine 2023, Volume 17, Issue 3,   Pages 493-502 doi: 10.1007/s11684-022-0946-x

Abstract: Anaplastic lymphoma kinase (<i>ALKi>) is the most common fusion gene involved in non-small cell lungIn this work, we investigated whether the variant allele frequencies (VAFs) of <i>ALKi> fusions canThrough the application of next-generation sequencing (NGS), 7.2% (326/4548) of patientswere detected to be <i>ALKi> positive. Results suggest that the <i>ALKi> VAF determined by hybrid capture-based NGS is probably unreliable

Planar jumping with stable landing through foot orientation design and ankle joint control

Qilong YUAN, I-Ming CHEN

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2012, Volume 7, Issue 2,   Pages 100-108 doi: 10.1007/s11465-012-0318-3

Abstract:

This paper introduces a method to generate the planar jumping motion for biped robot. In this work, through determining the upper body posture trajectory in the flight phase, the foot landing posture is made to be flat while landing. Together with properly designing the trajectory for local center of gravity and the foot landing velocity, the soft landing trajectory is generated. A controller on the ankle joint is added to avoid significant impact with the ground and stabilize the robot after landing. Jumping motion with stable landing is achieved in a dynamic simulation environment based on this method.

A review on technologies with electricity generation potentials using liquified natural gas regasification

Frontiers in Energy 2023, Volume 17, Issue 3,   Pages 332-379 doi: 10.1007/s11708-023-0863-y

Abstract: In modern times, worldwide requirements to curb greenhouse gas emissions, and increment in energy demand due to the progress of humanity, have become a serious concern. In such scenarios, the effective and efficient utilization of the liquified natural gas (LNG) regasification cold energy (RCE), in the economically and environmentally viable methods, could present a great opportunity in tackling the core issues related to global warming across the world. In this paper, the technologies that are widely used to harness the LNG RCE for electrical power have been reviewed. The systems incorporating, the Rankine cycles, Stirling engines, Kalina cycles, Brayton cycles, Allam cycles, and fuel cells have been considered. Additionally, the economic and environmental studies apart from the thermal studies have also been reviewed. Moreover, the discussion regarding the systems with respect to the regassification pressure of the LNG has also been provided. The aim of this paper is to provide guidelines for the prospective researchers and policy makers in their decision making.
